Sunday Pop-Up Market – Downtown Raleigh

popupThe Belle and I have been excited about attending the Pop Up Sunday for a few weeks. November 23rd would be the last one until April. We hate attending events in the pouring rain, but when The Friends left the house it was not raining, however shortly after we left the rain grew stronger.

Fortunately we had umbrellas and the parking was close. Tracey Johnson, owner of Patina South Vintage, and Cynthia Deis, owner of Ornamentea, are the trailblazing organizers of POP-UP Sunday. This event books months in advance and consistently rotates vendors from all over the US, even as far as Austin, TX. Tents, umbrellas, and vintage camper styled shops line the edges of the fun with money being raised each month for a different local charity. This month the Pop Up Market partnered with Interact of Wake County and Bold Rock Hard Cider to raise money and awareness. InterAct is a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.

I saw many interesting items; a plaid vintage coat, antique jewelry, refurbished jewelry, soaps, antique furniture, a poet creating poems on a typewriter, plants, ceramics, and food trucks to name a few. I purchased an antique pin that as a filigree patter, very delicate and appearing to be very old. The Belle found a beautiful pair of earrings and The Bad Boy found some nice aromatic soaps. Inside Ornamentea there were more treasures to find. We spotted the food and I purchased a Mexican brownie and Belle purchased four Irish Car Bombs cupcakes.

We also discovered Relay Foods. They had delicious samples of Pumpkin bread.   The Belle and I purchased the Kitchen Essential Kit which for $15.00 we received; Sausage Craft San Miniato Sausagr, Nello’s Southern-Crafted Premium Marinara Sauce, Farm Friend All-Natural 2% Homogenized Milk from Grass-Fed Cows, Runningbyrd Tea Company Montgomery Mint Tea, Mountain View Farm Local McClure Swiss Style Cheese, Nature’s Yoke Large Natural Cage-Free Brown Eggs, Bread Works Bakery Sunflower Wheat Bread, 22 oz. and Organic Yellow Onions.

Despite the rain, we were pleased with the market and plan to return on the 4th Sunday in April.

This Pop UP Sunday market include the following vendors:
